Life has kept me away from this blog and the passive-aggressive relationship that Covid and I currently have is still on-going.
My frazzled-ness continues.
--> Some days, "Yay-more unexpected memories with our kiddos..."
*insert* random walks to talk that otherwise wouldn't happen because they would be in school
*insert* every morning together without the rush of brushing teeth, packing lunches, etc.
*insert* kiddo doing P.E. in the family room and the dog trying to wrestle him
--> Other days, "Yay-more unexpected memories with our kiddos..."
*insert* "Mom, I'm hungry..." E-V-E-R-Y S-I-N-G-L-E D-A-Y A-L-L D-A-Y L-O-N-G
Note: If a latently-discovered effect of Covid-19 is that children suffered from an inability to feel full after eating...my surprise would never arise.
*insert* kid playing violin, kid asking for more food, kid grabbing more blankets to snuggle during a zoom, kid asking for more food, kid, kid, kid, kid...lots of kid.
The dramatic shift in family time and the home is unparalleled in our household and perhaps too, yours.
The togetherness of Covid is nearly as comical as it is magical. Many bonus moments together.
John said to me the other day when the violin started up, "It sounds like the deck of the Titanic" (in other words, as it sank!) That comment sums up how we have leveraged humor in this gnarly time. Laughter is our favorite medicine!
Yet, even when things seem so bizarre:
Our 12-year-old picks up his violin and plays a tune.
He never before played an instrument or knew music.
He picked up his violin in September and ever since, his amazing middle school teacher has
guided him and the entire Orchestra class remotely.
More homes are probably still frazzled...but are now filled with music that would otherwise
only echo the school halls. *happy smile*
My kid is learning the violin...and all of our kids have food. Phew!
*more happy smile*
