Poor Mazda

After sitting dormant for two months, the poor Mazda was a little under the weather. On Wednesday, it was fate that I backed the car to the front of the school for easy access to the birthday snack trays. When Tyler and I got back to the car, it wouldn’t start. Our friend Deanna thankfully was able to give me a lift home to change Tyler’s stinky diaper and dropped us back off to the car. After about half an hour in 111 degree heat-Tyler played in the rocks the whole time-the roadside assistance arrived. This super nice man opened the hood of the car and said “whoa-look what we have here. Lots of dust.” I felt embarrassed. “Should I ummmm be cleaning the battery?” It was corroded and caked in dust. “Nah, it just happens” he said. He asked Tyler if he wanted to hear the tow truck horn. He was really nice. He did ask if I was drinking a soda in my cup. It was just water but he said if it was Coke, that it does wonders at breaking up the corrosion. Well, that pretty much sums up all I need to know about the dangers of popular soft drinks!
Thankfully he was able to jump it with easy front hood access and I snatched Ethan from school early and we all headed home. John arrived home later that night and installed a new battery. Ah, car fun. We just paid off the Mazda in July-I was 8 months pregnant when we bought it-so you just knew an issue would arise!
