Since we’ve been home, the boys have been enjoying toys that were dormant for almost two months. And they’ve made a solid mess of the place most days. They’ve been playing so well together and as the start of school approached, I even more so loved watching them together.
From playing pirates to superheroes, they love being a team. They can raise hell but they are seriously the sweetest. Over the weekend, I didn’t care that they made a mess. They stayed in jammies most of the day-the TV was on a lot too. We went out to our traditional family Saturday lunch and talked about the coming school week. We had a really nice and calm family weekend.
Sunday night, John and I peeked in on the boys as we do each night after they’ve fallen asleep…and it hit me. Both boys will be in someone else’s care. I won’t watch them eat lunch together all week like they have for the last nearly 4 years. Ethan will be at school until 3pm. Tyler won’t be my little morning buddy all week.
And I cried. Ugly. It caught me off guard but I knew it had to happen. It’s a big milestone for all of us. A shift in our family dynamic. And one that everyone is ready for…even this crying Mom.
