Charlie Doggy

Today marked Charlie’s 3rd vet appointment in 5 days. Since last week he has been lethargic with little to no appetite. After normal blood labs came back, it was clear over the weekend that his back legs or hips were causing him problems. Today’s X-rays showed that his hips are “completely shot” as the vet put it. As a puppy mom, that sounded so harsh. We thought maybe he strained something but the X-ray shows his poor puppy hips are bone on bone. He has no cartilage left and the bone has numerous spurs. His knees and spine are good but his hips require him to be on rimadyl and a pain medicine, which he stated today. Just a couple weeks ago the little man was at the park with us, running in the grass; so mobile. Hopefully the medicine will give him relief as it’s really his best option. We want him comfortable. He’s watching the boys ride bikes in the front yard in this photo taken today-At 9 years old doesn’t he still look like a puppy? A week from now we will know if he’s improving. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He is the sweetest soul of a puppy. He is more than a pet really-he is family. After a healthy and active life, it’s hard to see him showing older age. We will be showering him with love and kisses-the best pet medicine, right?
