Our family has never done a divided holiday weekend. Where we go one, we go all. This Labor Day weekend, John took the boys to Montana and Little Miss and I stayed home. Lily would have slowed down the boy fun so this way they could go hiking, fishing, etc. without any interruption.
John's Dad has a home near Flathead Lake and it's the perfect place for boys to explore nature. Before the pandemic, we would never have considered a split holiday weekend but with soooooooo much togetherness these past 6 months, some space for the boys to explore is a gift. The two days they missed of remote learning were well-spent in Big Sky Country!
John's job (since our 2002 engagement) has required a lot of travel. Since the Spring covid restrictions, his lack of travel has truly been a blessing! To see him building these unexpected memories with the kids...wow! So amazing. Glad we are making the most of it until his travel resumes.
Lily kept exclaiming joy this weekend over our "girls only" time.
She had a tea party with Grandma Susie, we practiced headstands, ate popcorn, watched her shows, and did her nails. Patton is a big fan of the calmer snuggles.
I'm still very unsure about how the rest of 2020 will look but this was a weekend transformed!
